Aces & Eights - And Old West RPG

Aces & Eights - And Old West RPG

This here blog is about the old west.

It more a tale about an old west RPG (Role Playing Game) called Aces & Eights.

The guys in Troy's Gaming Dungeon were playing another game called Hackmaster after years of playing Dungeons & Dragons.

They guys found that they enjoyed Hackmaster over D&D very much.

So after several months of playing in a Hackmaster game run by Troy, Nick decided to run an Aces & Eights game.

This blog is our story.

We are on our 2nd group of Player Characters or PCs in this group.

Our first set of PCs was comprised of an interesting bunch.  In the end, it was two Mormon brothers who threw their lot in with a couple of friends coming from back east.

The Mormon brothers met up with a former riverboat captain from Missouri and an Irish immigrant doctor from New Haven, CT.

In the end, the captain became a Mormon and the Doc wound up leaving and heading south to Mexico.

We had fun with that first group but Nick felt  we needed a group of PCs with more cohesion, more reason for being together. That made sense to us.

So we brainstormed on what kind of group we should start over with.

Here were some of the ideas:

Outlaw Mexican Bandits

One of the aspects of Aces & Eights that makes it so much fun is the alternate history timeline in which it is set.

In the Aces & Eights world, The South won the Civil War and seceded from the Union with the help of France, who in return, were given New Orleans.

Here is a link to the PDF from KenzerCo, the company that produces Aces & Eights that explains the alternate history extensive detail.

Here is the political map of the Contininet in Aces & Eights:
